The Tithe Test and God's Promise to the Faithful

3
Chapter 3
6 For I am the LORD; I have not changed, and you sons of Jacob have not come to an end. 7 From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts. And you said, "In what way will we return?" 8 Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. And you say, "In what way have we robbed you?" In the tithe and the offering. 9 You are cursed with a curse, and you defraud me—you, the defrauders of the whole nation. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, and let it be food in my house. Test me in this, please, says the LORD of Hosts. If not, I will open the windows of heaven for you and pour out blessing for you until there is no room enough. 11 And I will rebuke the devourer for you, and it will not destroy the fruit of the ground for you, and the vine will not miscarry for you in the field, says the LORD of Hosts. 12 All the nations will deem you happy, for you will be a land of delight, says the LORD of Hosts. 13 "Your words have been strong against me," says the LORD. "And you have said, 'What have we spoken against you?'" 14 You have said, "It is futile to serve God. What profit is there when we have kept his charge? And when we have walked as mourners before the LORD of hosts?" 15 And now we call the arrogant happy. Even those who do wickedness are built up; even we have tested God, and they escaped. 16 Then those who fear the LORD spoke, each man to his fellow, and the LORD paid attention and heard. And he wrote a book of remembrance before him for those who fear the LORD and for those who reckon his name. 17 "And they will be mine," says the LORD of Hosts, "in the day that I am making a treasured possession. And I will spare them, just as a man spares his son who serves him." 18 And you will return and you will see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between the servant of God and the one who did not serve him.
